A total of 57 players ponied up the hefty $25,000 buy-in for Event #11: $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship. In this star-studded field, eight players will make the money, with the winner set to take home $243,981.
Day 1 played through 2 rounds of the bracket-style tournament, with 16 players surviving to advance to Day 2. Notable players to advance include GGPoker Ambassador Jason Koon, PokerGO founder Cary Katz, Dan Zack, Jimmy D’Ambrosio, Jake Daniels, Galen Hall, and Johannes Becker.
To start the day, players were given a random draw, with seven players given a bye. The other 50 players would automatically cash for $25,000 with a win.
The opening round had many exciting matchups, highlighted by a more than four-hour slugfest between Bertrand Grospellier and Jimmy D’Ambrosio. D’Ambrosio ultimately emerged victorious to bring the play-in round to a close.
For the Round of 32, there was a table redraw to set the final bracket. Some of the matchups included Nick Petrangelo vs. Dan Zack, Seth Davies vs. Jake Daniels, and Jonathan Jaffe vs. David Peters.
The Round of 16 will resume at 2 p.m. local time, with a 7 p.m. restart for the Round of 8.
