The penultimate day of Event #13: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em has wrapped up with Brandon Caputo bagging the overnight chip lead with 7,280,000.

Caputo began the 10-handed unofficial final table in seventh chip position before scoring a huge double-up against Andrew Jeong near the end of the night. Caputo, who has 22 career WSOP cashes, will be seeking his first bracelet.

Right behind him on the leaderboard sits a player who's no stranger to closing out WSOP events. Michael Gathy takes 6,700,000 into the final day after knocking out Jeong to close out the night. Gathy already has four WSOP bracelets, all of them won in No-Limit Hold'em events since 2012.

Action of the Day

Play began at 11 a.m. PST with 108 players remaining out of a starting field of 720. As the day wore on, several notables found their way to the payout cage, including Faraz Jaka (105th), Ben Yu (82nd), Darren Elias (68th), Christian Harder (33rd), Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (32nd), and Niall Farrell (12th). Maria Konnikova, the last woman standing in the field, fell in 25th place.

The seven remaining players will return at Noon PST tomorrow to play down to a champion. On the line is $371,914 and, of course, the coveted WSOP bracelet, a dream all of these players except Gathy have never realized. The final table will be streamed live from the Mothership in the Amazon Room on PokerGo.

As always, PokerNews will be live providing updates and chip counts throughout the day until a new WSOP bracelet winner is crowned.

Andrew Jeong
Andrew Jeong

Andrew Jeong raised to 230,000 from the cutoff and Michael Gathy defended his big blind. On the flop of {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}, Gathy checked, Jeong bet 275,000, Gathy raised to 700,000, and Jeong went over the top with an all-in shove.

Gathy snap-called and turned over {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for two pair, while Jeong showed {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for top pair. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and the Day 1 chip leader was knocked out in eighth place.

Play has ended for the night and the seven remaining players are currently bagging up their chips.

Caputo Doubles Through Jeong in Massive Pot

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Brandon Caputo
Brandon Caputo

Brandon Caputo just became the tournament chip leader after doubling up through Andrew Jeong.

Both players saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Caputo bet 175,000 from early position, Jeong raised to 500,000 from the big blind, and Caputo called. Jeong bet again on the {2-Hearts} turn, this time for 675,000.

Caputo took his time with the decision, counting out the rest of his stack before calling. Jeong slowed down with a check on the {9-Spades} river and Caputo moved all in for his remaining 2,075,000.

Now it was Jeong's turn to tank, spending several minutes on a call that would either make him the chip leader or put a huge dent in his stack. He decided to call but mucked when Caputo showed {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the flush on the turn.

"What a turn," Caputo said as he stacked his new-found chips.

Brandon Caputo raised to 160,000 from middle position before Freddy Heller jammed for his last 1,800,000 from the blinds. Caputo considered the decision for a moment before calling.

Freddy Heller: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Brandon Caputo: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Heller started to celebrate when the {q-Spades} came in the window, but it was followed by the {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} to give Caputo a set. The rest of the board ran out {5-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} and Heller's run came to an end in 9th place.

Andrew Jeong raised to 125,000 in early position and Landen Lucas re-raised all in for his last 1,200,000 on the button. Craig Mason in the small blind called and Jeong got out of the way.

Landen Lucas: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Craig Mason: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Spades} and Mason won the pot with ace-high and his king kicker. Lucas was sent home in 10th place, one spot off the official final table.

Niall Farrell jammed for his last 470,000 and was called by Girish Apte.

"I do not have aces," Farrell said as he showed {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Apte had him dominated with {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

The {4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop gave Apte top pair, and Farrell was drawing dead by the {5-Hearts} on the turn. "We are eliminated," he said. The meaningless {j-Diamonds} fell on the river and Farrell was sent home in 12th place.

Marcell Csata was all in on the turn with {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a open ended straight draw.

Michael Gathy had {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for top pair on the board {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

The river was {3-Spades} and didn't give any help to Csata eliminating him in 19th place for $18,815

David Lolis: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Wade was dominated and got no help on the {10-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} board, hitting the rail in 14th place.

Lolis, meanwhile, is now the tournament chip leader with around 5,000,000.
