Bernstein Takes it on the Flop

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Michael Bernstein raised under the gun to 2,400 and the action folded around to the big blind who three-bet to 6,000.

The dealer spread a flop of {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and the big blind checked to Bernstein who threw in a bet of 3,300. That was enough to push the opponent out of the hand and the dealer pushed the chips to Bernstein.

Sligh Wins Classic Race

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Brandon Sligh opened the action from the hijack to 2,200. It folded to the small blind who called, but then the player in the big blind pumped it up to 7,500. Sligh moved all-in for 34,100 when the action got back to him. The player in the small blind folded and the big blind called. Sligh's tournament life was at risk.

Brandon Sligh: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Big Blind: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The flop came {5-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

The turn brought the {9-Clubs} which gave the player in the big blind the nut flush draw but the river card was the {j-Hearts}. Sligh hit a set of jacks on the river to double through his opponent.

Grujic Turns a Staight

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With the flop reading {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} Marko Grujic check-called a bet of 2,000 from Adam Hendrix. The turn was the {4-Spades} and now Grujic took the lead by firing out a bet of 4,500.

The {2-Clubs} hit the river and Grujic fired once again for the same amount, 4,500. Hendrix made the call and Grujic tabled {6-Spades}{5-Spades} for a turned straight and that was good enough to win the pot.

Kanit and Rezaei Go Head-To-Head

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Daniel Rezaei raised on the button to 2,000. The action folded to Mustapha Kanit in the big blind who three-bet Rezaei to 8,500. Rezaei quickly four-bet to 20,500.

Kanit asked, "what did you start with?" Then he jammed enough chips in the middle to put Rezaei all-in. Rezaei snap-called.

Daniel Rezaei: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Mustafa Kanit: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Rezaei's pocket kings held and he doubled through Kanit giving him one of the largest stacks in the Pavilion room and likely the whole field. Kanit was left with crumbs and busted shortly after.

Hudon Five-Bet Shoves on Kade

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded to Vanessa Kade in the cutoff who raised to 2,000. Eliot Hudon was next to act and three-bet to 6,000 which forced the blinds to quickly fold. Kade gave it a few seconds and put in the four-bet to 15,000. Hudon thought about it for a brief moment and announced all-in for a little over 90,000 in chips.

Kade had a bright smile on her face whiling surrendering the pot and throwing her hand into the muck.

Craig Varnell
Craig Varnell

On a flop of {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} the player first to act checked to Craig Varnell who put in a bet of 2,000 and his opponent called.

On the {7-Spades} turn both players checked to see the {10-Clubs}. The player first to act put in a bet of 1,500 and Varnell popped it up to 10,000. His opponent went into some deep thought and ultimately decided on the call. Varnell instantly tabled {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a rivered Broadway straight and his opponent's cards quickly hit the muck.
