Chen Eliminated as Bubble Approaches

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
James Chen
James Chen

The action folded around to Michael Liang in the small blind who announced all-in. James Chen was in the big blind with around 265,000 and quickly made the call after looking at his hole cards.

James Chen: {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Michael Liang: {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The flop of {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} left Chen in the lead with his ace-high. However, the {10-Clubs} on the turn gave Liang the better flush draw along with a two-way straight draw. The {8-Diamonds} on the river completed one of his straights and Chen was eliminated.

Ace-High Wins For Cornell

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Darren Elias opened to 45,000 from early position, Tyler Cornell called in the cutoff, Mustapha Kanit called on the button, and Carlos Chadha called in the big blind.

Action checked to Cornell on the {5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop. Cornell bet 65,000, and only Kanit called.

Both Cornell and Kanit checked through the {9-Clubs} turn and {3-Hearts} river. Cornell turned over {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}, and the ace-high was good enough to take the pot.

Hall Spikes an Ace to Double Up

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Tyler Cornell opened to 44,000 from under the gun and Galen Hall shipped his stack of 329,000 on the button. The blinds quickly folded and Cornell asked for a count before making the call.

Galen Hall: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Tyler Cornell: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

It was a coin flip that saw Cornell stay in front through the {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop. However, Hall managed to spike an offsuit ace when the {a-Clubs} hit the turn and held on through the {5-Spades} river in order to double up.

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Tyler Cornell, in the small blind, got his 676,000 stack in the middle preflop, against Darren Elias in the hijack. Elias had Cornell covered going to the showdown.

Tyler Cornell: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Darren Elias: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Board: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{a-Spades}

The pocket queens held for Cornell, sending the nearly 1.4 million-chip pot his way.

Chadha Gets a Fold from Mateos; Hand-for-Hand Play Now

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Adrian Mateos opened to 40,000 in the hijack and Carlos Chadha defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Chadha checked to Mateos who continued for 27,000. Chadha check-raised to 100,000 and Mateos called.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and Chadha checked again. Mateos fired out another 75,000 and Chadha went for the same move. He opted to check-raise to 225,000 this time and Mateos went into the tank for at least two minutes before finally letting his hand go.

Due to the amount of stalling from the smaller stacks in the room, the tournament director has decided to go hand-for-hand two players off the money.
