Welcome to Day 1 of Event #88: $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em, the final event of the entire 52nd World Series of Poker at The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. After this 88th event, the series will return in the summer.

This prestigious event last year boasted a field of 608 players to create a prize pool of $2,870,200 that saw first place end up with $606,526. It was Carl Shaw that bested Tony Dunst heads up that saw him collect his first bracelet as well as the hefty prize.

This event boasts a buy-in of $5,000 with a starting stack of 50,000 in chips and blind levels that last 30-minutes long, starting out with 100/100 and a 100 big blind ante. Every four levels there will be a 20-minute break with the exception of level 12 with a 75-minute dinner break. After that dinner break, there is a closing of entry around 7:55.

The play will resume and they will play a total of 22 levels for the whole day. Being the final event of the whole series, this will draw out all of the players that are chasing the player of the year final standings, that currently sits with Josh Arieh in first place and Phil Hellmuth in second place.

Thank you for keeping up with PokerNews this series, stay tuned to see the updates on other events going on all around the world.
