Day 1 of Event 17: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball Set to Begin

The 2022 WSOP at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas keeps rolling today with Event 17: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw Lowball starting at 3 p.m in the Paris Ballroom.

If you like lowball, today's event will feature triple the fun with triple the draws and triple the games. Players will rotate between A-5, 2-7, and Badugi in this three-day limit format event.

Last year's reigning champion is Vladimir Peck who took home the $134,390 top prize. Peck outlasted 253 entrants in 2021 on the road to his maiden golden bracelet.

Players will start with 35,000 chips and play 60-minute levels throughout the tournament. Registration will be open through eight levels, approximately 12 a.m. tonight. Day 1 players will play 10 levels with 15-minute breaks every two levels.

Greenstein Makes Number Seven

Action picked up on the first draw with Barry Greenstein in position on his opponent. They both drew two cards.

His opponent bet and Greenstein called. Greenstein took two again and his opponent now drew one.

Greenstein faced another bet and called again. Now his opponent stood pat while Greenstein took one card.

Greenstein's opponent fired one final bet after draws were complete. His opponent flipped the eighty-six and Greenstein showed for number seven (the seventh-best hand in A-5 Lowball) and the win.

"That was after I accidentally threw away a deuce, too," said Greenstein.

Action picked up on the second draw with three players in the hand. Deeb had drawn two, Thaker had stood pat. Shaun Deeb checked and Haresh Thaker bet in middle position. A late position player called before Deeb put in the check-raise from the small blind. Thaker called and the third player folded.

On the final draw, both Deeb and Thaker stood pat. Deeb bet and Thaker called.

"Eighty-six," said Deeb, showing for number eight.

Thaker had one better with the for number seven and the winner.

Gee Stands Pat the Whole Way

On the second draw, Gee's three opponents all drew two while he stood pat again. Gee bet when checked to, but now the opponent on his left raised to two bets. The big blind called and Gee continued the aggression with a third bet. Both players called.

On the third draw, the big blind checked, and both Gee and the in-position player stood pat. Gee bet, the in-position player called and the big blind folded.

Amarapu checked, the big blind bet and both Kessler and Amarapu made the call. On the second draw, Amarapu and the big blind drew one, while Kessler drew two.

Again Amarapu checked, the big blind bet, Kessler and Amarapu called. All players drew one card.

"Good luck," said Kessler, as all players looked to make their hand on the final draw.

Action checked through on the final betting round. Amarapu showed for the six-high three card hand that was good enough to take down the pot.
