Mirzikinian Accidentally Exposes Hand, Wins Pot

Level 4

A player in the cutoff opened and defending champion Brian Yoon three-bet out of the small blind. Warwick Mirzikinian flatted from the big blind, as did the original raiser.

Yoon took two cards to his opponents' one on the initial draw, after which he checked to Mirzikinian, who bet out. Both the player in the cutoff and Yoon called to maintain three-handed action heading to the second draw.

On the second draw, Yoon again took two, while Mirzikinian stood pat and the cutoff player drew one. Yoon checked for a second time. Mirzikinian was in no mood to slow down and fired off another bet. He was met by two calls and at this point, prior to the third draw, Mirzikinian, thinking the action was complete, turned his hand over. Only Yoon saw the exposed cards, as Mirzikinian quickly turned his hand back over after being informed by the table that there was another draw to come. The floor was called and the ruling made that Mirzikinian's holding had to be completely exposed for the remainder of the hand. Mirzikinian turned over {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}.

The final draw saw Yoon take one, Mirzikinian stand pat and the cutoff player draw two. Action was checked through and Mirzikinian's hand held up to take down the pot. "I'm supposed to give you a penalty", Mirzikinian was told by the floor. However, in a moment of sportsmanship, the other players involved in the hand insisted that that not happen .
