Grospellier Slipping

Level 13

After enjoying a red-hot start to the day, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier has lost some of that initial momentum. Action folded around to Grospellier on the button, who opened and received a sole call from Andrew Kelsall in the small blind.

Both players drew two cards on the initial draw and then checked through to the second draw where they again took two. At this point Kelsall bet into Grospellier who called to send the two players to the third draw.

On the final draw Kelsall stood pat while Grospellier took one last card. Action then checked through and Kelsall showed down {9-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} to take the pot and send Grospellier slipping down the chip counts.

Ausmus On Fumes, Eliminated Shortly After

Level 13
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

Christopher Claassen opened in middle position and action folded around to Jeremy Ausmus in the big blind who opted to three-bet. Claassen made the call to send the two players heads-up to the initial draw.

Both players took one card on the first draw after which action checked through to the second draw. Again, Ausmus and Claassen drew one. Ausmus then led into Claassen who called.

Neither player discarded any during the final draw and Ausmus checked to Claassen who fired off another bet. Ausmus released his hand to leave himself with just 18,000.

A few hands later Ausmus got the remainder of his chips into the middle but was unable to take down the pot, sending him to the rail outside of the money.

Gelencser drew one and Zack stood pat. Gelencser checked and Zack bet. Gelencser rechecked his hand and appeared reluctant before folding.

"That bad?" said Zack.

"Eight-seven," replied Gelencser. Zack tabled {8-}{7-}.

"Very smooth," said Zack.

Wasserson Takes Some From Kelsall

Level 13

Eric Wasserson opened from middle position and was three-bet by Andrew Kelsall on the button. Wasserson made the call to send the two players to the initial draw.

Wasserson drew one on the first draw before checking to Kelsall who had stood pat. Kelsall continued his initial aggression with a bet, which was called by Wasserson.

Both players stood pat during the second draw and at this point Wasserson took the betting lead. Kelsall appeared confused but did end up tossing in calling chips.

As on the second draw, neither Wasserson nor Kelsall opted to take any more cards on the final draw. Wasserson bet again and this time Kelsall tosssed his hand away, saying "nice play". "That'd be a weird bluff", Wasserson remarked in reply as he raked in his newfound chips.

Grospellier Wins After Bet and Call in the Dark

Level 13

Action was after the third draw, with both Matthew Schreiber and Bertrand Grospellier having drawn one.

Schreiber suggested that he could bet blind and Grospellier could call blind as they had both drawn one.

After consultation with the floor, Schreiber bet blind and Grospellier did indeed call blind.

"Pair," said Grospellier tabling {6-}{6-}{7-}{5-}{2-}. Meanwhile Schreiber had also paired, but his {8-}{8-} was inferior and he lost the pot.

"That was the single way you could lose that pot," a tablemate said to Schreiber.

Johnson Busts Rast

Level 13
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Picking up the action during the second draw. Marco Johnson in the small blind took two cards as did Brian Rast in the big blind. Johnson then check-raised a bet from Rast, who responded by moving the rest of his chips into the middle. Johnson made the call to put Rast at risk.

On the final draw Johnson stood pat and Rast took one last card. Johnson turned over {8-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} and Rast revealed he held {8-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, meaning he would need to catch a six or a five. Unfortunately for Rast, he peeled a {9-}, bringing his tournament to an end.
