Kertland Makes Big River Hero Call

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

With 23,000 already in the middle on a {10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{2-Spades}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} board, the big blind checked over to Jesse Kertland on the button, who put out a small bet of 6,500.

The big blind then raised to 46,000. Kertland went into the tank for some time and came out with a call.

His opponent attempted to represent the nut flush with {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, with Kertland calling off with {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for second pair and the win.

Kertland told Pokernews that when the blinds were at 500/1000/1000, he was sitting on just 200. Now he finds himself in Day 2 at 158,000.

Gimbel Eliminated Before the Money

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The shorter stack of Harrison Gimbel was already in the middle before the flop via shove from the button. He was looked up by Jens Kerper in the small blind and the cards were turned over.

Harrison Gimbel: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Jens Kerper: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The {j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop and {9-Hearts} turn gave Gimbel plenty of outs but he bricked the {2-Diamonds} river to become the next early casualty.

Ahuja Starts With Aces

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

"How do you wake up with that one?" Kenny "SuperTuan" Nguyen joked as one of the middling stacks on the table had won a pot on a king-high board and raked in the pot. That happened to be Ankit Ahuja, who flashed his {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} to win a pot very early on Day 2.

Other notable stacks can be found on the table as well including Joao Simao and Kelly Kim.

Matthew Davenport
Matthew Davenport

Gabriel Jansen Falcao Bal looked up the short stack all-in of Alemu "Jerome" Makonen and tabled the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Makonen turned over the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and made a set of kings on the {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}{k-Diamonds} board.

He then raised to 5,500 and called the shove by Matt Davenport from one seat over for more than half of his stack.

Matt Davenport: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Alemu "Jerome" Makonen: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} runout gave Makonen a set of nines and sent Davenport to the rail.
