Loeser Pulls a River Bluff

Level 23 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Manig Loeser
Manig Loeser

Manig Loeser opened from the hijack to 120,000 only being called by his opponent in the big blind.

The flop was {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{j-Hearts} with both players checking. When the {k-Clubs} hit the turn Loeser bet 100,000 after being checked to. His opponent made the call.

The river {10-Diamonds} completed the board and again the big blind checked. Loeser now chose a sizing of 335,000 putting his opponent in the tank. After some deliberation the big blind let his cards go. Loeser scooped the pot while showing {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the missed flush draw and only queen-high.

Brewer vs Baumstein in Pot of The Tournament

Level 24 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Scott Baumstein
Scott Baumstein

The PokerNews team was called over to a table with a board showing {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Yavine Brewer in the small blind had bet 900,000 into a pot of roughly just over 1,000,000. Scott Baumstien made the call from the big blind.

Before the dealer could scoop in any chips or peel the river card, Brewer moved all in for effectively 1,350,000.

The dealer put out the {4-Hearts} river and now Baumstein went well into the tank as he faced a massive decision.

"I don't think I'm going to fold," said Baumstein.

After much thought, Baumstein finally moved a stack forward to signal a call. He was shown the bad news as Brewer had {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a flopped two pair. Baumstein flashed his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} in disappointment before joining the others in the payout line.

Thach Calls Sowers Flop Jam

Level 33 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Mike Sowers
Mike Sowers

With around 2,000,000 in the middle on the flop of {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, Mike Sowers made a bet to 1,300,000 from the small blind.

Michael Thach raised it up to 5,500,000 in the cutoff.

Sowers only took a few seconds before jamming, and the dealer tossed an all in chip in front of him. After some thought, Thach committed nearly all of his stack for the call, and was ahead. Sowers however, had a monster draw.

Mike Sowers: {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Michael Thach: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

It was the {6-Clubs} for a turn, and Thach made two pair, but Sowers had many outs to pull ahead.

The moment the {a-Spades} appeared on the river, Thach jumped from his seat and clapped his hands. Sowers had missed his straight and flush draws, and Thach's two pair eliminated Sowers from the tournament.

"Yes!!", Thach exclaimed, stepping away from the table to take a few breaths before the next hand.
