Nakanishi Calls with Top Pair

Level 11 : 0/0, 2,000 ante

Picking up the action on the flop with the board reading {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, Shota Nakanishi tossed in a bet of 17,000 into a pot of around 35,000. Pieter Aerts check-called and the {k-Clubs} rolled off on the turn.

With four clubs on the board, that slowed the action as both players checked to the {8-Diamonds} on the river. Aerts led out with a bet of 30,000 this time and Nakanishi gave it some thought before he called. Aerts tabled {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} but Nakanishi held a bigger two pair with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}.

Rast Passes the Test

Level 11 : 0/0, 2,000 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Jonathan Depa limped from early position and Brian Rast did the same from the cutoff. Ben Yu moved all in for 117,000 from the button. Jonathan Depa also decided to moved in for 228,000.

Rast went into the tank and thought about the situation. He had both players covered, but it represented a large portion of his stack.

"You know what?" and he slammed down a stack of chips for the call.

Brian Rast: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Ben Yu: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Jonathan Depa: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

"Yes, that's what I thought," said Rast, seeing the good spot he was in.

The board ran out safe for Rast with a couple of aces and no trouble for his queens. He knocked out two players and became one of the new chip leaders.

Eldridge Turns Two Pair

Level 11 : 0/0, 2,000 ante

In a three-way limped pot, the dealer fanned the flop of {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts}. The action checked to Sean Winter on the button who threw in a bet of 11,000. David Eldridge called and they went heads-up to the {7-Spades} on the turn.

Eldridge checked again and Winter counted out a bet of 30,000 this time. Eldridge still called and the {6-Diamonds} completed the board. With four cards to a straight on the board, both players tapped the table. Eldridge showed {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for two pair and Winter slung his cards to the muck.

Winters Gives Peters Some Bad Déjà Vu

Level 11 : 0/0, 2,000 ante
Sean Winter
Sean Winter

Action picked up with David Peters moving all in for about 230,000 over a raise from Sean Winter preflop. The all in was only slightly more than Winter's raise.

"I know you're bluffing, show me the bluff," Winter said jovially as he called.

Sean Winter: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
David Peters: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Peters was in about as good of shape as you can be in short deck. The flop came out {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, giving Winter top pair. The {7-Diamonds} river brought some straight chops outs, but the {k-Clubs} river gave Winter the winner.

Peters was eliminated in the same fashion, aces versus ace-king, in this year's $250,000 Super High Roller event.

Nearby, Bin Weng was seen heading to the rail as well.

Smile Happy to Make a Straight Flush

Level 12 : 0/0, 2,500 ante

Action picked up on the flop with Philip Marsico going all in for 184,500. Scott Smile quickly made the call on the button.

The board showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

Marsico had flopped the nuts, but Smile was actually favored.

The {7-Clubs} turn was a blank, but Smile hit the {9-Diamonds} for the king-high straight flush on the river to eliminate Marsico and add a nice stack of chips to his stack.

Rheem Survives the Bubble

Level 12 : 0/0, 2,500 ante

On the first hand of the money bubble, Chino Rheem moved all in for 17,000 in early position. Carlos Leiva called on his left and the rest of the table folded.

Chino Rheem: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}
Carlos Leiva: {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The flop came {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and Rheem picked up a straight draw. The {9-Hearts} on the turn made his straight and the {8-Spades} on the river ensured Rheem of a double up.
