Vidal and Storck Split the Bubble

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Juliana Vidal
Juliana Vidal

Amanda Baker opened to 18,000 and Juliana Vidal shoved for her last 76,000. After some thinking, Baker called to create the following showdown:

Juliana Vidal: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Amanda Baker: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Vidal had the favorite hand but the dealer showed a board {7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades} to give a pair of queens to Baker and eliminate Baker in the bubble position.

*****

Across the room, Kelli Storck had been sitting on a single 1,000 chip for nearly a full orbit waiting for the bubble to burst. She found herself in the big blind and forced all in. Two players limped, Jenna Lang and Lara Eisenberg, the three of them saw a flop.

The flop came {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Eisenberg and Lang both checked. They would also both check the {4-Spades} turn and {k-Spades} river.

Storck had to wait for the floor to make their way over to officially reveal the hands. Once they did, Storck saw the bad news.

Kelli Storck: {j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Lara Eisenberg: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Jenna Lang: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Lang took down the pot with her pair of aces and Storck was eliminated with a share of the bubble.

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Lexy Gavin
Lexy Gavin

Samantha Gonzalez opened and it folded to Lexy Gavin who called in the big blind.

The flop revealed {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and Gavin check-raised to 25,000 Gonzalez's continuation bet worth 10,000. Gonzalez called.

A {8-Clubs} showed up on the turn and Gavin sent 25,000 in the middle, with 20,000 chips left behind. After some consideration, Gonzalez called.

The{8-Diamonds} paired the board on the river and Gavin pushed all in. This time, Gonzales didn't take long to fold and Gavin grabbed the pot.

Curiosity Nearly Gets Reilly

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action began on the turn in a heads-up pot between Juli Black and Nesrine Reilly. The board was a very connected {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}.

Black moved all in, more than enough to cover Reilly, who had about 76,000 effective. Reilly went into the tank. After about a minute, she began to talk.

"I really just want to call because I'm so curious, what hand can you shove there?" said Reilly. "Curiosity might be the end of my tournament. But, I think I'm going to fold," and she let her cards go. "I wish I had x-ray glasses for those cards," as the dealer mucked them for the world to never know.

The Deck Listens to Williams

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action began with Barbara Stahlecker and Jennifer Williams getting all their chips in the middle preflop with the same hand. Stahlecker had about 40,000 and Williams covered her.

Barbara Stahlecker: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Jennifer Williams: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

"Diamonds!" demanded Williams.

On cue, the flop came {3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

"Oh, no!" said Stahlecker.

Things would get worse when the {2-Diamonds} hit the turn to give Williams the unbeatable flush. The {9-Hearts} river completed the board.

"Is that all you have to do is ask for it?" asked a tablemate.

This time it worked, and Williams sent Stahlecker home in most unlucky fashion.
