Shack-Harris Wins Some off Filippi

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Amnon Filippi has been off to a decent start and wrestled some profit on a table filled with several notables. That includes Brandon Shack-Harris, who defended against an under-the-gun raise by Filippi. Both checked the {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop and {7-Diamonds} turn. Shack-Harris then bet the {a-Spades} river and Filippi called to get shown the {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a set of fives and a live low.

Filippi was somewhat surprised and just exposed the {a-}{7-} to receive just a quarter of the pot for the same low.

Porter Left on Fumes by Johnson

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

With one full bet invested on the {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{a-Spades} turn, Rep Porter in the small blind then checked the {q-Diamonds} on the river. Lucas Johnson opted to bet and Porter, who had less than two big bets behind, eventually surrendered to be reduced to a severe short stack.

Unexpected Chop for Martini; Who Then Loses Some

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Julien Martini
Julien Martini

Three ways to the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Hearts} turn, Julien Martini was already all-in with Wayne Diep and Jeffrey Vaughn each investing one bet. Diep also bet the {j-Hearts} river and Vaughn called.

Martini tabled the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and was ready to leave but won half the pot for the high hand. Diep's {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Vaughn's {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} only chopped the low.

One hand later, Martini raised and bet the {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop before checking the {7-Hearts} turn. Martini bet the {8-Clubs} river and Tyler Phillips sighed, then said "I should raise but just gonna call", as he was afraid of a superior low. Martini rolled over the {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} but Phillips won the entire pot with the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a flush and nut low.

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

On a three-way board of {4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}, Nicholas Derke announced he was all-in, followed by a call and then a raise from the late position player. The middle position called and the cards were tabled.

Derke showed {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a two-pair high and the nut low.

His opponents showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-}{9-Spades} for a chopped hi and {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} for a chopped low.

Derke was awarded half of the pot in a three-way chop.

Tran Eliminated by Espinoza

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

On a board of {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}, Cong Tran was all-in for the last 5,000 and he earned calls from William Remshardt and Paul Espinoza.

The two active players checked the {4-Spades} river and Espinoza tabled the {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for two pair and a low. That beat the {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} of Tran and the {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} of Remshardt to scoop the entire pot.

Bojang Cannot Call the River

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

In a larger confrontation between Ismael Bojang and Taylor von Kriegenbergh, the latter admitted that it was his first Omaha Hi-Lo tournament event ever.

Von Kriegenbergh had bet-raised it up on the {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts} river and Bojang was in the tank. Ultimately, no call followed and a frustrated Bojang tossed his cards into the muck as he dropped a decent chunk of his stack early on Day 2.
