Roberts Turns a Flush to Chip Up

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Three ways to the {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop, Craig Stout bet 2,000 and was called by Abbas Alikhani while Scott Roberts check-called. On the {j-Spades} turn, only Roberts check-called another bet worth 2,000 by Stout and then led the {6-Hearts} river or 4,000.

Stout called and mucked once Roberts revealed the {8-Spades}{6-Spades} for a flush.

Shi With a Very Rough Start

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

On the rail end of a ten-high board, Haochen Shi check-called a bet worth 5,000 by table neighbour Ryan Smith. The latter tabled the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for an overpair and queens up, which beat Shi who exposed a ten and added in table chat he had ace-ten. It was yet another setback for Shi, who was left with a fraction of the starting stack and bemoaned several setup hands that diminished his stack.

Rice Wins Race to Eliminate Spriggs

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Joseph Rice three-bet to 2,000 in middle position and the action folded to Rodney Spriggs in the big blind, who four-bet jammed a stack of 18,800. Rice took a few moments and called with a bigger stack.

Rodney Spriggs: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Joseph Rice: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

It was a classic race before the flop landed {5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} to give Rice a stranglehold on the hand with a set of queens.

"Oh, shit. I don't do very well in races," Spriggs said before the board finished out {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} to send him out in the second level of play.

Rice, who in March won two Circuit rings at WSOP Circuit Turning Stone, including in the Main Event to win $238,870, gave a shoutout to his wife and kids after winning the big hand.

At the same table, Online Event #7: $500 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack winner Sane Chung built his stack up to around 45,000.

Two Pennsylvanians Tangle at Table 499

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Richard Ali, who in January took down a WSOP PA Circuit event for his third Circuit ring, was out of position in a heads-up pot against fellow Pennsylvanian Joe McKeehen on a board of {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}.

Ali checked and called a bet of 1,000 from McKeehen. Ali checked again on the {2-Hearts} turn and the 2015 WSOP Main Event champ checked back.

Ali checked again on the {a-Spades} river and McKeehen bumped his fist on the table for a check. Ali turned over {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, which was good to win the pot.

Hizer Runs Kings Into Aces

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Paul Hizer
Paul Hizer

Matthew Mendez opened the action and Paul Hizer then three-bet to 1,600 from one seat over. Anthony Close cold-called in the big blind and Mendez then reraised to 6,700. Hizer eventually called while Close folded.

Heads-up to the {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Mendez continued for 8,700 and Hizer called reluctantly as the {6-Spades} followed on the turn. Mendez then pushed all-in for 33,300, which had the 20,000 of Hizer covered. The Brit tank-called after some two minutes and the cards were revealed.

Paul Hizer: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Matthew Mendez: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The {10-Clubs} on the river brought no miracle for Hizer and he was sent to the rail.

Weisser Gets Hui to Fold

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

With 13,700 in the middle on a completed board of {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Mark Weisser bet 12,100 for nearly his entire remaining stack and that sent Phil Hui into the tank. Hui had just below the starting stack at his disposal and eventually sigh-folded as Weisser raked in the pot without showing his cards.

Bromfman Busts Baldwin

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Eric Baldwin
Eric Baldwin

Eric Baldwin was all in for around 20,000 against Pedro Bromfman to his right, who had him covered.

Eric Baldwin: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Pedro Bromfman: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Baldwin's jacks were pipped by the queens of Bromfman and the queens held up as the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} to send Baldwin to the rail.

"That's the dream hand! Queens against jacks," said someone at the table.
