Brewer on Fumes; Cates Doubles
Limit Hold'em
Daniel Alaei raised and Chris Brewer made it three bets out of the small blind for Alaei to call. On the 8♦7♥6♥ flop, Brewer check-called and did so again on the K♠ turn. Brewer than checked the 5♣ river and Alaei bet to force a fold, leaving Brewer with just over one full bet.
One hand later, chip leader James Obst raised from under the gun and he then called a three-bet by Dan Cates in the next seat. On the 10♣3♥2♦ flop, Obst check-called a bet and eyeballed the stack size of Cates carefully. Obst checked again the 5♥ turn for Cates to bet who had fewer than a bet behind.
Obst glanced over, check-raised and a robotic "all-in" declaration of the Tournamentinator followed.
Dan Cates: 10♥10♠
James Obst: A♣Q♣
Obst needed a four to score the knockout but the 6♣ river ensured the double for Cates.
