Johnson Bags Chip Lead Going Into Day 2 Of Mixed Triple Draw
Event #52: $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw saw a bigger turnout than last year’s iteration of the event, with 353 compared to last year’s 309. This first day saw a $783,200 prize pool created, guaranteeing the final 53 a minimum of $4,069, with all eyes on $181,978 for first place.
Topping of the chip counts was two-time WSOP bracelet winner Marco Johnson, who bagged 228,500. The California resident has already secured seven cashes at the 2023 World Series of Poker and one final table. Johnson’s bracelets have come in No-Limit Hold’em and H.O.R.S.E, but he has proven to all of his peers his proficiency in all forms of poker, having recently enjoyed a deep run in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. With this bag today and his wealth of experience, he looks to add to his already decorated resume.

They join a cast of star-studded players heading into the second day of this event.
Not all players had good fortunes today. David “ODB” Baker was unable to find any success in this field in addition to Eli Elezra, Yufei Zhong, Adam Owen, and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi. Daniel Negreanu was one of the last casualties of the night, exiting just ten minutes before the end of the day. They will have to look towards other tournaments this summer in pursuit of a bracelet.
Defending champion Dominick Sarle also exited the day towards the end, leaving the throne open for a new player to take a seat.
Some 145 players will return to the Horseshoe on Friday, June 23, at 1 p.m. local time with blinds at 1,500-2,500 and limits at 2,500-5,000 in the 11th level of the tournament. Levels will last an hour each, with a 15-minute break occurring after every two levels. Players will continue to play for 10 levels before calling it a night.
