Vergel Dodges Several Outs to Double Up and Survive
Level 9
: Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
All the chips went into the middle preflop with Esmeraldo Vergel at risk for 13,600 from early position. They were covered by the cutoff.
Esmeraldo Vergel: A♥K♦
Cutoff: A♣Q♦
The flop of 10♣9♣8♣ brought plenty of danger to Vergel as the cutoff could hit any queen, jack or club to win the hand. Thankfully for Vergel the two running 9♠9♦ gave both players trip nines, but Vergel's king outkicked the cutoff's queen.
