Death by Big Slick

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Hand #1

David Wintersberger went pseudo-all-in, but had left one chip behind when Adrian Salter went all in on his direct left with the bigger stack. Wintersberger had the clock called on him when it folded back to him, as it appeared he was attempting to tank for a pay jump. He made the call as the clock counted down and wished his opponent luck.

David Wintersberger: A9
Adrian Salter: AK

The flop warmed up Wintersberger when it rolled out the 786, giving him a straight draw and a flush draw. The turn was fine for Salter when it peeled the 6, but the K on the river was a backhanded top pair, as the flush awarded Wintersberger the double up.

Hand #2

Just a few shuffles later, these two players tangoed all-in preflop again, but this time, Wintersberger had the covering stack.

Adrian Salter: AK
David Wintersberger: JJ

Salter was almost amused by bad luck as he pulled his camera out to record the, J78 flop which gave Wintersberger top set. The turn and river were bricks for Salter and he was sent to an unexpected early exit on Day 2.

Bigelow On a Heater

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Having come into the day with just over a million in chips, Peter Bigelow had already more than tripled his stack in the first two levels of play. Bigelow was at it again when he opened to 150,000 from early position and a player in middle position moved all in for just over 500,000. The rest of the table folded and Bigelow made the call.

Middle Position: AA
Peter Bigelow: AJ

Bigelow was in rough shape against the rockets, but when the board ran out 654104, it was the runner-runner hearts that gave Bigelow a flush to send his opponent to the rail.

Li With a Big Breath of Life

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Hand 1

Danning Li and the player to his left were both short stacked and all in.

Opponent: 33
Danning Li: A7

The fop fanned out 47Q, pulling Li ahead with a pair of sevens. He even further improved when the 7 peeled and the Q on the river sealed the deal for Li and gave him a stack to work with.

Hand 2

Just an orbit or so later, Li was heads up against Ramon Wicki on a board reading Q54. Li didn't have much behind and when Wicki asked for all of it, both players obliged.

Danning Li: JJ
Ramon Wicki: KK

Li's pair of jacks stayed far behind with the 7 on the turn, but when the J peeled off on the river, Li exclaimed, "Yeah, baby! Do it like that once in a while!"

Wicki was left to lick his wounds, as he would have had a massive stack if he held.

Duan Scores Massive Double Up

Level 25 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

The action was picked up in a heads-up pot with close to 900,000 in the middle on a flop showing 976. A player in the big blind and Bin Duan on the button got into a raising war before getting their stacks in the middle, with Duan at risk for his 1,695,000 total.

Bin Duan: A8
Big Blind: K7

Both players flopped flush draws, but the big blind had a pair to go along with his and Duan was in need of his live cards or a spade to stay alive. The turn did just that when the A rolled off and the A river was the cherry on top to score Duan a massive double up to over four million in chips.
