Hofer Turns a Straight

Adam Friedman opened to 800 from middle position and received calls from players in the hijack and cutoff as well as Robert Hofer on the button.

The flop came J♦10♣6♦ and action checked around to the cutoff who bet 2,000. Hofer called, Friedman folded and the hijack folded.

The cutoff fired again on the 9♦ turn for 6,000 and was called by Hofer.

Both players checked the 8♦ river. The cutoff announced that he had two pair and Hofer tabled K♥Q♥ for a straight to take the pot.

Lapka Puts Rodrigues to the Test

Justin Lapka, also known as "LappyPoker" online, opened to 800 from under the gun and got a call from a player in middle position before Michael Rodrigues raised to 4,400, receiving a call from Lapka while the middle position player folded.

The flop came 8♦6♣9♣ and Lapka check-called a 3,300 bet from Rodrigues.

Lapka checked again on the K♣ turn and Rodrigues bet 5,000. Lapka moved all in, covering Rodrigues who had 10,300 behind. After about 20 seconds Rodrigues made the fold and Lapka scooped in a nice pot.

Meanwhile, at another table, Adam Friedman has entered the tournament.

The player in the hijack moved all in for 20,400, Jianping Lu on the button three-bet jammed for approximately 26,600 and the player in early position called off the bet for their tournament life. Rheem got out of the way.
