Kane Kalas opened to 18,000 from middle position and Ian Pearson defended his big blind.

The turn brought the 7♦. Pearson led for 25,000 and Kalas called.
On the 3♣ river, Pearson led for pot of 95,000. Kalas went into the tank, but eventually let it go.
"Should I use it?" asked Jay Johnson as he moved his short stack into the middle. Matthew Beinner made the call on the button, with Veerachai Vongxaiburana coming along from the small blind.
"One time!" exclaimed Johnson and action continued to the 7♥A♦2♦ flop. Both Beinner and Vongxaiburana checked to the 4♣ turn. Beinner slid out 10,000 and Vongxaiburana quickly folded.

Johnson had flopped the but low but was counterfeited on the turn, while Beinner made a straight on the 8♣ river. Johnson was left second best for both halves of the pot, sending him to the payout desk.
Leonard Talerico opened to 12,000 and Richard Lee made the call on his immediate left. Nikolay Ponomarev was next to act, sliding out a three-bet to 40,000. Talerico folded before Lee shoved, with Ponomarev making the call and putting himself at risk.

Lee quick found a set on the A♣Q♠8♦ flop,while Ponomarev was unable to make a low on the J♦ turn or 5♠ river to hit the rail early in the day.
At a nearby table, John Racener was also headed to the payout desk with eliminations happening quickly around the room.
John Marlowe jammed under the gun for 1,000, and Paul Fehlig raised to 12,000, which was called by Calvin Anderson on the button and Nathan Gamble in the big blind.
On the 10♣5♥4♠ flop, the action checked to Anderson who bet 20,000. Gamble folded, and Fehlig responded with a check-pot. Anderson jammed and Fehlig snap called.

Corey Wick moved his short stack all in from the cutoff and was at risk when Andrew Yeh made the call in the big blind.

Wick ran into Yeh's aces, but was able to crack them by making a full house and the best low on the 5♣6♦J♥7♦7♠ runout to earn the early double.
