Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today's Event #33: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha DeepStack (8-Handed) will be getting underway soon here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and players can register (or use one of their two re-entries) until the end of Level 12 (expected to be around 5:00 p.m.). Players receive starting stacks of 30,000 and play will continue for 22 of the 30-minute levels. There will be a 20-minute break every four levels and a 75-minute dinner break after Level 16 (about 7 p.m.).

Day 2 will resume at 11 a.m. on June 13 with play continuing until a winner is declared.

Last year's edition of the event was massive, attracting 3,200 entries and generating a prize pool of $1,632,000. From that huge field, one man emerged victorious. Joseph Altomonte won the event, his first ever WSOP bracelet success, after beating Michael Holmes heads up. His achievement earned him a $217,102 payday and an entry in the WSOP annals.

Thrilled by his victory, Altomonte told the press, "It's a dream come true, you don't even understand."

Birnbaum Comes In Hot

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Nancy Birnbaum was in late position when she raised to 200 and was called by the players on the button, small blind and big blind. The flop came out 4J8 and all four players checked.

When the 2 came on the turn, the big blind bet 700 and was called by both Birnbaum and the button. The 8 on the river was checked to Birnbaum, who bet 900 and both players folded.

Not A Bad First Hand

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Action picked up after a player in the cutoff raised to 600 and was called by the players on the button and in the small blind. Rous Marek then three-bet to 3,300 and was called by the cutoff. The button and small blind folded and the players were heads-up.

The flop came out A2K and Marek bet 6,500 which his opponent called. The 9 came out on the turn and Marek shoved all in. His opponent tanked briefly before making the call. Both players had identical stacks and therefore were both at risk.

Cutoff: QJJ3All in
Rous Marek: AAJ5All in

The river was the 9, improving Marek's top set to a full house, and the player in the cutoff was eliminated.

"Not a bad first hand," remarked Marek's table mate.
