Brewer Correctly Calls Mateos in Huge Pot

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

Picking up the action on the turn, Chris Brewer in middle position was involved in a hand with Adrian Mateos on the button.

With the board reading K105J Brewer checked to Mateos, who bet out 55,000. After some time, Brewer called.

Brewer checked again following the 2 river. Mateos, unwilling to go to a cheap showdown, pushed 155,000 across the betting line, representing roughly a pot sized bet. That sent Brewer into the tank as he considered a decision for a significant number of chips early in the day. Eventually, he decided his hand was too strong to lay down and tossed in a calling chip holding K10 for two pair. Mateos could only muster QJ for a pair of jacks with blockers to broadway to send the massive pot over to Brewer.
