The two big stacks at the table clashed on the board of 2♦9♥9♦8♦5♦. When the river brought in the fourth diamond on a paired board, there was already well over 50,000 chips in the pot.
Action was on Gianluca Cedolia, who put in a big river all-in bet, good for 107,500. His opponent in the hand, Hermilo Garza Villareal, had the bet covered.
Villareal thought for a long time, but ultimately decided to fold, and the table chip lead went to Cedolia.
Action folded to Dario Sammartino in middle position, who raised to 3,500. Charles Kassin in the hijack called, as did a player in the big blind.
The flop came J♦4♥3♠ and after the big blind checked, Sammartino bet out 3,500. Kassin made the call, and the big blind folded.
Both players checked after the 2♠ came on the turn.
The 9♦ on the river completed the board, and Sammartino bet out 4,500. Kassin then chose to raise to 10,700. Sammartino flicked in a chip to call, and Kassin showed him A♦J♥ for top pair, top kicker. Sammartino threw his hand in the muck to give Kassin the pot.
Brad Owen opened the action from the cutoff with a raise to 3,500. The button three-bet to 9,000 before Owen four-bet ripped his stack in the middle for 42,900. His opponent made the call.
