Messere Gets the Double Up to Stay Alive
Level 29
: Blinds 4,000/8,000, 0 ante
Kane Kalas raised on the button to 19,500 and Owen Messere three-bet to 64,000. Kalas then four-bet shoved all-in, covering Messere, who quickly called.
Owen Messere: A♣8♣
Kane Kalas: A♦K♥
Kalas was in good shape to end the match and advance to the next round. That was until the dealer put out the flop of 2♥8♦5♥, putting Messere in the lead.
Kalas would need a king or running hearts to knock out his opponent, but the J♣ turn and 9♥ river offered no help. Messere secured the double up and the lead in the match.
