Wang Scores Large Pot and Knockout

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Guofeng Wang
Guofeng Wang

Jim Collopy opened to 8,000 from under the gun and was called by Guofeng Wang in middle position, Ludovic Geilich in late position and a player in the big blind.

All four players checked through the 79J flop to the 4 turn at which point the big blind bet 21,000. Collopy called while Wang responded by potting to 123,500. That forced Geilich and Collopy out of the hand but the big blind called off for less.

Big Blind Player: J9107 All in
Guofeng Wang: A1082

Wang had flopped a straight to leave his opponent drawing thin. The river changed nothing to send the big blind out of the tournament while awarding Wang a large pot to go along with the knockout.

Ponakovs Bets Big

Level 4 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Chino Rheem and Aleksejs Ponakovs both committed 6,600 before the dealer fanned out the J78 flop.

Ponakovs checked from the big blind and called after Rheem fired 4,000. Both players then checked the 2 turn and the Q river was revealed.

Ponakovs led out with a bet of 20,000. Rheem took some time with the calling chips in his hand before laying it down.

A short time later, Rheem was seen heading to the exit after losing the rest of his stack.

Last Year's Finalist Halatenko Among Early Casualties

Level 4 : 300/600, 600 ante
Stanislav Halatenko
Stanislav Halatenko

Four ways to the AK9 flop, the action was checked around and the Q followed on the turn. Stanislav Halatenko in the small blind bet 3,000 and David Eldridge then raised to 11,000 on the button. Only Halatenko called with very few chips behind and also called all-in after the 4 river.

Eldridge showed the AQ102 for the ace-high flush and Halatenko flashed a jack-high flush before heading out. One year ago, Halatenko finished in third place in this event but now bowed out early on Day 1.

Another high-profile casualty was Farid Jattin, who had nearly doubled his stack only to lose it all. Hokyiu Lee was last spotted raking in the remainder of it.

Barny Boatman
Barny Boatman

Three-way action became two after Barny Boatman three-bet to 2,800 and Nick Schulman slid out a four-bet to 9,800. Boatman made the call and the 6K4 flop was revealed.

Schulman bet enough to put Boatman all in and the call was made. The 2 turn and 7 river did not help Boatman, as Schulman turned over AA75 to take down the pot.
