Hennigan Among the Leaders After Massive Day 1d

John Hennigan
John Hennigan

We predicted that Day 1d of Event #1: $1,000 Mystery Millions would be massive, and that prediction became true. By the time late registration closed here at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, a staggering 5,314 players had bought in. By the time the curtain came down on proceedings, only 287 of them had chips requiring bagging.

Stephan Ma thoroughly enjoyed himself, turning his starting stack into 2,420,000 chips. That stack put Ma at the top of the Day 1d chip counts, with only one flight remaining.

Poker Hall of Famer, John Hennigan, entered this event and also got off to a flying start. The seven-time WSOP bracelet winner bagged and tagged 1,800,000 chips after the day ended, enough for tenth place on the Day 1d leaderboard.

Plenty of established grinders navigated through the Day 1d field and progressed to Day 2 on June 1. They include Daniel Strelitz (1,835,000), Justin Arnwine (1,135,000), Quan Zhou (1,075,000), Andrew Kelsall (775,000), Jason Wheeler (725,000), Ryan Hughes (725,000), and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (250,000).

Day 1e starts at 10 a.m. on May 31. The final flight is traditionally the busiest, meaning there's every chance more than 7,000 players will buy into the action! PokerNews will have a recap of the day's play shortly after Day 1e ends, before resuming our traditional coverage from Day 2 onward.
