Obst and Miner with Major Stacks into Day 2 of Biggest-Ever Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo Event
Pot-Limit: 1,500 Ante, 1,000/1,500 Blinds, 3,000-5,500 Pot Limit Raise
The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas has run its sixth iteration of Event #15: $1,500 Mixed Omaha. This year has seen a near 50% increase in field size as compared to last year, as 1,239 entrants came out to try their luck in the split pot Omaha variants. This generated a prize pool worth $1,644,773, that ensured a first-place prize of $258,192. At day's end, only 264 made it to bag.
Leading the way is WSOP bracelet winner James Obst, who bagged 481,500. Coming into the day, about four hours after the first card was pitched, Obst’s rise was more sudden and weighted towards the end of the day. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner is one of the players in the 25k Fantasy Draft and will be looking to add some points for his team.

Today was a relatively smooth ride as he held the chip lead for the majority of the day. He now sits with the second biggest stack in the tournament, looking for his first live bracelet.
Others that bagged in the tournament included Ryan Laplante (388,500) Sammy Farha (338,500), Rep Porter (271,500), Scott Clements (232,000) and this week’s champions David Shmuel (153,500) and Benny Glaser (133,500). Defending champion Magnus Edengren (57,000) also put some chips in the bag and will be looking for another run at this mixed Omaha bracelet.
Fortune did not smile on all today. Some that joined the rail included Josh Arieh, Andres Korn, Todd Tucker, Patrick Moulder, Todd Brunson, Brandon Cantu, and Nadya Magnus. They will have to look to other events to snag a bracelet at the 2025 WSOP.
All of the surviving players will return at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas to play another ten levels, blinds being upped to 60 minutes. Level 16 will be the first level of play with blinds in the limit game at 2,000/4,000, with 4,000/8,000 limits. In the pot-limit games, blinds will begin at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 ante.
