Chorlian’s Set of Queens Crush Ford’s Set of Nines

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

With about 330,000 already in the middle and the flop showing 498, Joe Ford checked from the big blind to Robert Chorlian, who fired a bet of 200,000. Ford quickly responded with a raise to 825,000, putting the pressure back on Chorlian.

Chorlian went deep into the tank, clearly facing a tough decision with just 695,000 behind. After more than four minutes of deliberation, he finally slid all of his chips forward. Ford called, and the cards were turned up.

Ford had flopped a set of nines to take the lead, but the 10 on the turn flipped the script, giving Chorlian a higher set. The Q on the river improved Chorlian even further to a set of queens, and he pulled in a huge double-up at a crucial point in the tournament.
