No Clubs for Nagal

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Mark Nagal took his time in the big blind after Jeffrey Lies raised to 3,400 from early position. After some hesitation, Nagal made the call, taking both players to the flop.

The dealer spread 2910, and both players checked. On the 8 turn, Nagal led out big, firing 20,000 into the pot. Lies, unfazed, made the call.

When the 10 hit the river, Nagal fired another 20,000. Lies called again without hesitation. Nagal tabled 84, having caught a two pair with the board on the turn, but it wasn’t enough to beat Lies’ hand as he revealed 97.

Visibly frustrated, Nagal slid his cards toward the dealer and quipped, “You didn’t deal me a club, dealer. What’s up with that?”
