Arani Dispatches Rizzo

Level 5 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Leo Rizzo raised to 9,000 from the cutoff and Mamad Arani defended from the big blind. The flop came A108 and Arani checked to Rizzo who bet 12,000. Arani check-raised to 35,000 and Rizzo piled all in for just shy of 100,000. Arani quickly called and the cards were tabled.

Leo Rizzo: QJAll in
Mamad Arani: 108

Arani flopped two pair but Rizzo was drawing live with a two-way straight draw. The 3 on the turn changed nothing and the 8 on the river improved Arani to a full house, eliminating Rizzo.

Gomez Flips Negreanu to the Rail

Level 4 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

After a couple of preflop raises, Daniel Negreanu and Javier Gomez got all of their chips in the middle with Negreanu being the player at risk for a bit over 100,000.

Daniel Negreanu: 99All in
Javier Gomez: AQ

A coin flip preflop resulted in a Gomez win after the board ran out Q747J and Negreanu was eliminated for the time being.

"I'm ready to rebuy!" Negreanu shouted as he quickly jumped back in the field.

Gierse Busts Boivin

Level 2 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

With roughly 60,000 already in the middle on the board of Q6QA2, Thomas Boivin opted to jam for the remainder of his chips to put Marius Gierse to a decision.

Gierse was in the tank for a moment before announcing a call. Boivin showed 75 for a bluff. Gierse revealed A4 for top pair, scooping the pot and eliminating Boivin in the process.

Davies Leading, Paur Out

Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/1,000, 1,000 ante
Seth Davies
Seth Davies

Seth Davies built a healthy chip stack in the early going of the first level and that continued on the first hand after Jennifer Tilly arrived at the table. The two players were engaged in a three-bet pot with a little over 70,000 in the middle and the board reading 972J.

Davies led out with a bet of 40,000 and Tilly used one of her time banks before dumping her cards in the muck.

"Is this a rebuy tournament?" Tilly asked after losing a third of her stack already. (Yes, one reentry only!)

Davies showed AA as he collected the pot to hold an early chip lead over the rest of the field. On the other end of the spectrum, Taylor Paur was eliminated and the first casualty in this event.
