Dwan Hits Flush to Survive, Lazrus Busts Yu

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Daniel Lazrus
Daniel Lazrus

Lei Yu kicked things off with a raise to 2,500 from middle position, and Daniel Lazrus made the call from late position. Jamie Dwan, short-stacked on the button, moved all in for his last 1,800.

The flop came 2A9, and Yu continued with a bet of 3,000. Lazrus called, building a side pot.

On the 10 turn, Yu reached for chips, possibly intending a smaller bet, but put out 15,000. Without a word, the bet stood. Lazrus responded by raising, and Yu ended up calling off his remaining 10,200 chips. With all three players at risk in some way, the cards were turned up.

Daniel Lazrus: AQ

Both Yu and Lazrus had top pair, but Lazrus held the better kicker. Dwan had a flush draw and a pair of tens for backup. When the 4 landed on the river, Dwan spiked his flush to take the main pot and stay alive. Yu was eliminated, while Lazrus scooped up the sizable side pot.
