Phil Ivey's slow start to the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) appears to have ended.
The 11-time bracelet winner not only recorded his first cash of the summer. He's among the big stacks in Event #38: $100,000 High Roller with 15 players remaining. Thomas Boivin and Ben Heath are also at the top of the leaderboard, all battling to win the gold bracelet and the $2,649,158 first-place prize.
With a bloated preflop pot, the flop came 3♦3♠8♣ and Dzmitry Urbanovich checked as did Jon Turner. Ryuta Nakai bet out only to then see Urbanovich three-bet. Turner folded, and Nakai called and the players saw the 2♥ fall on the turn. Urbanovich bet out, and Nakai called.
The river saw the 6♦ and again Nakai check-called Urbanovich's bet. Urbanovich spun over A♦A♠ and was pushed the pot as Nakai pushed his cards into the muck.
"All-in, 17,000,000," Martin Kabrhel announced while pushing forward his 4,000-chip stack. Jeremy Ausmus raised from the button and was called by Karim Alwan in the big blind.
Both of them then checked all the way through a board of 2♦3♦4♥5♦8♠. “There’s an all-in, everyone has to show their cards,” Kabrhel added.

Kabrhel hit a pair on the turn, but it wasn't enough to stay in the tournament against Alwan's two pair.

Action folded to Daniel Negreanu in the small blind, who raised, with Jon Turner calling from the big blind.
The flop of 7♦ Q♠ K♥ saw Turner check-call Negreanu’s bet.
The K♠ turn brought checks from both players, and the 8♥ river prompted another round of checks.
Turner revealed 7♣ 4♣ for two pair, while Negreanu mucked his hand.
Kevin Song raised from middle position, Jon Kyte to his left three-bet, then everybody folded to Song who called.
The dealer fanned a flop of Q♠2♠4♦. Kyte bet, Song check-raised and Kyte reraised with only 500 behind. Song raised once more to push him all-in, and Kyte called.

Kyte with top pair was facing a flush draw. The 3♣J♣ runout was all black, but all clubs so Kyte doubled up.
In a three-bet pot, the flop read 5♣J♣7♦, and Ronnie Bardah check-raised Pedro Neves' bet, Neves called. The turn was the 3♥, and Neves three-bet Bardah's lead out.
The river brought the 10♦ and Bardah checked and flat called Neves' bet. Neves showed 7♣7♠ for a flopped set, and Bardah mucked and was left running on fumes.
