Hyde is Chip Leader at Dinner Break
Level 9
: Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Kevin Hyde of Anaheim, Calif., has amassed 600,000 chips going into a one-hour dinner break. The next closest competitor is Samuel Stranak (373,000 chips).
Hyde said this is just his third pot-limit Omaha tournament, but he is comfortable in them, having cashed in a $1,000 PLO event in a $1,000 PLO event at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and placed 23rd in the same event last year.
He traveled to Las Vegas with a friend in town, and decided to join him in playing the higher buy-in. Thus far he is enjoying it.
“I’m just looking at my four cards and hoping to hit the flop,” Hyde joked. “Fortunately, everything is going well.
“I’m hoping to go one more level up from what I’ve done and get better than 23rd this time.”
