Duek Takes it Down with a Pot-Sized River Bet

Level 27 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Michael Duek limped in from middle position. Phil Ivey also limped on the button, Dennis Weiss called from the small blind, and Talal Shakerchi checked his option.

The flop of K44 saw all players check. Then on the 6 turn, it was Weiss who woke up with a bet. He fired 425,000 into the pot. Only Duek called.

The A was the river card, and Weiss checked. Duek fired a pot-sized bet for 1,850,000. Weiss thought for a moment, and decided to fold.

Dennis Weiss opened to 700,000 in middle position and Ben Lamb three-bet to 2,400,000 in the cutoff. The action folded back to Weiss who four-bet shoved all in. Lamb slammed his chips on the table in frustration and used a time bank before calling off his stack of 5,600,000.

Lamb was in trouble with Weiss holding the better pocket pair and having one of the suits covered. The flop came J64 which provided no immediate help to Lamb. The 10 on the turn gave him a straight draw but the 5 on the river bricked out, eliminating Lamb in ninth place.

Krentzman Picks Off Duek

Michael Duek limped under the gun, Dennis Weiss limped on the button, and Talal Shakerchi completed from the small blind before Evan Krentzman raised to 1,000,000 from the big blind. Only Duek called.

On the 987 flop, Krentzman checked and Duek bet 850,000.

Both players checked on the 3 turn, and then on the K river, Krentzman checked. Duek thought for a while, used a time extension, and then bet 2,700,000. Krentzman also used a time extension before making the call. Duek pointed at Krentzman to indicate that he had the best hand, and Krenztman turned over the AAK9 to claim the pot.

Phil Ivey raised to 650,000 on the button and Talal Shakerchi defended from the big blind. The flop came KQ2 and Shakerchi check-called a bet of 800,000 from Ivey.

The turn was the 5 and Shakerchi check-called another bet of 1,500,000. The 8 landed on the river and both players tapped the table. Shakerchi tabled A776 for the nut flush and Ivey mucked his cards.

On the next hand, Ivey made it 650,000 again and Dennis Weiss three-bet to 2,325,000 on the button. Ivey called and they went heads-up to a flop of A83. Ivey checked to Weiss who continued with a bet of 1,600,000 and Ivey quickly folded.
