Matthaei Can't Beat the Ladies of Werner
Level 19
: Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Raymond Matthaei made it 28,000 from under the gun before Axel Werner three-bet to 60,000 from middle position. Matthaei instantly called when the action got back to him.
After Matthaei checked the 2♦9♦4♥ flop, Werner jammed for Matthaei's remaining 180,000. Matthaei thought it over for a while before making the call.
Raymond Matthaei: A♦J♦
Axel Werner: Q♣Q♥
Werner had the Ladies, but Matthaei could hit an ace or a diamond to take the lead. The J♠ turn gave Matthaei a pair and a few more outs. However, the 6♣ appeared on the river and Werner won the pot, eliminating Matthaei.
