Not Like This, Gafford’s Bluff Backfires Against Kabrhel
In a battle of bracelet winners, Martin Kabrhel raised to 8,000 from under the gun, and Bradley Gafford called from the big blind.
The dealer spread a A♣10♥5♦ flop. Gafford checked, Kabrhel bet 5,000, and Gafford called.
The turn was the 4♥. Gafford checked again. This time, Kabrhel bet 10,500. As Gafford weighed his options, Kabrhel quipped, “It’s already my money.” Just as the words left his mouth, Gafford responded with a raise to 28,000. “Not like that, that’s a horrible raise,” Kabrhel shouted, before eventually making the call.
The river brought the 3♦. Gafford slid two green chips and one pink chip into the pot, signifying a bet of 55,000. Kabrhel moved his Hippo card protector in Gafford’s direction and said, “Hippo smells a bluff. I think it’s a bluff.” Kabrhel was still contemplating his decision when the clock was called. As the final seconds ticked away, Kabrhel pushed his chips forward to make the call. Gafford tabled Q♦J♣, but it wasn’t enough. Kabrhel revealed A♠9♥ to scoop the pot and told Gafford, “That was a horrible play. Not GRO approved."
