Labranche Scoops a Monster
Level 20
: Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Action was joined with the board reading 5♠K♥7♠9♣ and the pot at over 200,000.
Smain Mamouni, who was on the button, bet out for 210,000, and Jonah Labranche in the big blind was in the tank for a good 3-4 minutes before he announced that he was all in. Fabrizio Gonzalez, who was also in the pot, snap-folded while Mamouni snap-called.
Jonah Labranche: Q♠J♠
Smain Mamouni: 8♦6♦
Mamouni had turned a straight and needed to dodge a spade to send Labranche to the rail. However, the 3♠ peeled off on the river and made Labranche his flush for a monster pot and to send him soaring up the chip counts with nearly 2,000,000. Mamouni was left with a little more than a bowl of rice after the nasty suck-out.
