Fuchigami Catches Up

Level 29 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Maki Fuchigami
Maki Fuchigami

James Casement opened to 250,000 and Maki Fuchigami, to his immediate left, pushed 4,500,000 leaving one 25,000-chip behind. When action went back to Casement, he called thinking that Fuchigami was all-in. When told that he was not, Casement just matched the chips for a call.

The flop came 8QK and Casement immediately announced all-in. Fuchigami threw his last chip in for a call.

Maki Fuchigami: AJ All in
James Casement: AQ

Casement hit his queen on the flop and was ahead, but Fuchigami had outs with a straight draw. The 8 kept Casement's lead but the river 10 completed Fuchigami's straight to score a double.

As the dealer pushed the chips to Fuchigami's side, Casement muttered, more to himself than anyone else, that sometimes one fell behind but could catch up with a single stroke of luck. That's just poker.
