Zhao Spikes the River to Double

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Jiaming Zhao
Jiaming Zhao

Jiaming Zhao, who once famously entered a €5,200 Eight Game Mix tournament at EPT Barcelona and almost cashed despite not knowing any of the games, looking up the rules on his phone between hands and receiving tips via Google Translate, opened to 2,000 from early position.

He was called by Bruce Carter in middle position before Craig Tobin made it 6,000 to go on his left. Gerard Cassis cold-called on the button, and the others came along as well.

Four ways to the 1098 flop, it checked to Tobin who bet 10,000. Cassis folded after a long tank before Zhao moved all-in for 41,000. Carter quickly folded before Tobin snapped it off as the covering stack to put Zhao at risk.

Jiaming Zhao: J9 All in
Craig Tobin: AA

Zhao held middle pair and an open-ender against the overpair of Tobin. Nothing changed on the K turn before the J river gave Zhao two pair, and he collected the full double in a massive pot.
