Winkler Benefits From Costly Error
Level 4
: Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
After Abbas Alikhani raised from middle position, Kevin Merola though the was raising a considerable amount with a three-bet to 12,000.
Unfortunately, he threw out two green 25,000-denomination chips, instead of a pair of 5,000s.
Facing the raise to 52,000, Alexander Winkler moved all in for 74,800. Alikhani bailed. Merola threw in the call.
Alexander Winkler: A♥K♠
Kevin Merola: Q♥Q♠
Merola would have played his queens regardless, but how aggressively almost certainly would have been affected by the ace on the flop 3♣5♥A♣.
As it was, Winkler made top pair there, and in the full runout 9♥K♣ ended up with top two pair to double-up off Merola's mistake.
