Chao Among Bigger Stacks
Level 9
: Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
James Darby raised to 3,500 in early position. Calvin Chao was in the cutoff and three-bet to 11,000, which Derby called.
Derby then led out for 10,000 on the 8♥10♠J♦ flop and doubled his sizing to 20,000 on the 6♥ turn. Chao called both times, after which the 10♥ river was checked to showdown.
Derby shook his head as he tabled 9♥9♣ for a pair of nines. Chao had the better hand with A♠J♠, raking in the pot with his top pair.
