Payne Spikes the River to Scoop a Monster Pot
Level 19
: Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Heads-up to the turn of 5♦2♣3♣10♦ with 216,000 in the pot, Sergio Martinez Gonzalez bet out for the full pot from the hijack.
Jamie Payne, on the button, went into the tank before he re-potted to put himself all in for 415,000. Gonzalez snap-called to put Payne at risk.
Jamie Payne: A♠Q♦3♦3♠
Sergio Martinez Gonzalez: A♥K♠9♣4♦
Gonzalez had flopped a wheel and was way ahead but needed to dodge a board pair-up to send Payne packing.
The poker gods were on Payne's side when they served up the 10♥ river and gave Payne a full house to scoop the massive pot and leave Gonzalez with a bowl of rice.
