Rivera Spikes a Five to Double Through Lu
Level 29
: Blinds 100,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Marc Rivera raised to 1,700,000 from the cutoff with just 15,000 behind. Qing Lu called on the button and the flop came down 5♥7♠Q♦. Rivera's last chips got into the middle and Lu quickly called.
Marc Rivera: A♦5♠
Qing Lu: A♠9♠
Rivera had outflopped Lu by pairing his five and just needed to dodge a nine to keep his hopes of winning a first bracelet alive.
The 4♥ turn and A♥ river changed nothing, and Rivera secured the much-needed double-up at Lu's expense.
