Larsen Doubles Through Avila
Level 19
: Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Miguel Ore Avila limped from middle position before Birger Larsen made it 45,000 from the cutoff. Avila made it 162,000 in response. Larsen put in his stack for 77,000 total to be all-in and at risk.
Birger Larsen: A♦Q♥J♦10♦3♦
Miguel Ore Avila: Q♠Q♣8♠7♣7♠
Larsen needed to improve to stay in the tournament, and the flop gave him something to work with when it fanned out 5♦9♦J♣ to give him an open-ended straight draw.
The 4♠ turn did nothing for either player, but the river was what Larsen needed when it came the K♣ to give Larsen a straight.
