Starostin Shows Boat Over Boat

Level 16 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

As hand-for-hand play continued, Ivan Starostin and Steven Karp traded a bet and call of 25,000 on the 599 flop and both checked the A turn.

Karp led out for 52,000 in the big blind on the 2 river and Starostin raised to 143,000, leaving just a single yellow 1,000 chip behind.

Karp took some time before sticking in a call, and the dealer counted both stacks to verify if Karp was at risk. After confirming that Karp still had chips behind, the tournament director instructed both hands to be tabled.

Starostin showed AA for aces full of nines, while Karp tabled A9 for nines full of aces. Starostin virtually doubled up, while Karp was left with 20,000 chips.
