Messed Around and Got a Double-Double
Gansukh Sandagsuren entered the day as the shortstack, with just four big blinds, so he knew he would be desperate from the get-go.
So on the first hand from the big blind, he called Najeem Ajez' under--the-gun raise to 800,000.
When the flop hit 2♠7♠2♥ he moved all in. Ajez called.
Gansukh Sandagsuren: K♠5♠
Najeem Ajez: A♣Q♦
The A♥ turn didn't help, but the 6♠ on the river gave him a flush and a double-up.
One the very next hand, Sandagsuren moved all in from the small blind, and once again, his heads-up opponent was Ajez.
Gansukh Sandagsuren: Q♣J♠
Najeem Ajez: A♣3♥
The flop hit J♣6♣A♦ giving both players a pair, but Ajez had the edge with aces. The turn brought the 3♠, no help to Sandagsuren.
But again, he was saved on the river with the J♦ landing to give him trip jacks and a second double-up to start the day.
