Morris Making Moves
Not long after hitting a one-outer to save his tournament life, Arthur Morris found himself in another big pot that could put him among the chip leaders.
Jiyang Gan started the hand with a raise under the gun. Brian Kirschner from the cutoff, Leon Bennett on the button, and Morris, who was the big blind, all called.
When the flop came 4♦7♥7♠, the action checked around to Bennett, who bet 400,000 chips. Morris was the lone caller.
The turn brought the 9♠ and an all-in shove from Bennett for his last 560,000 or so chips. Morris quickly made the call.
Leon Bennett: A♣J♣7♣6♠
Arthur Morris: Q♣J♥8♥7♦
As one would imagine, each had a seven for trips, but neither had a full house through the turn. A blank would give Bennet a big-time double-up thanks to his ace.
When the Q♥ landed on the river, Morris had the knockout and another massive addition to his stack.
