Were Queens Tripped Up?
Level 23
: Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Timur Margolin opened for 400,000 from the cutoff and called when Paulius Vaitiekunas three-bet to 1,200,000 out of the small blind.
The latter continued for 650,000 on the A♣7♠4♠ flop, Margolin called, and then both players checked the A♦ turn.
When the 2♣ completed the board on the river, Vaitiekunas checked and Margolin bet what looked like 700,000. Vaitiekunas called only to muck when Margolin rolled over the A♠9♠ for trip aces.
"Kings?" Margolin asked.
"One less," responded Vaitiekunas, implying he had pocket queens.
