Luca Exits After Bluffing Off His Stack with Six-High

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Ivan Luca (as seen in a previous event)
Ivan Luca (as seen in a previous event)

What had started well for Maria Lampropulos and Ivan Luca has eventually become a short-lived tale. The pair lasted just under two levels in the tournament.

The hand started when Stephen Dees, one of the chip leaders, opened to 1,500 from the hijack. On the button, Ivan Luca responded with a three-bet, making it 3,500. John Green came along with a call in the big blind, and Dees accepted the invitation to the flop, too.

All three players checked when the {J-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop landed, and the action commenced on the {7-Spades} turn. Luca, who was last to act, saw his opponents check again. He took his chance to bite, placing in a 3,000 bet. He received two calls.

The {K-Hearts} completed the board. Green and Dees checked yet again, and Luca moved all-in for just over 8,000. Green didn't hesitate before calling, and Dees sighed. "Damn. Got it all, huh?" he said. He eventually layed his hand down.

Meanwhile, Luca already knew that nothing could change his fate. He showed a stone-cold bluff with {6-}{5-}, playing the board. Green's {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} was a comfortable winner.
