Tehan Doubles Through Yaroshevskyy

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

We arrived just in time to witness the outcome of a big hand that occurred between Joseph Tehan and Igor Yaroshevskyy.

Tehan was in the small blind and led out 1,700 on the river, with the board reading {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Yaroshevskyy moved all in for 4,275. Tehan contemplated for a few moments and eventually called. Yaroshevskyy showed {A-}{8-} and couldn't beat Teehan's {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Teehan, who is paired up with Benton Blakeman, scored a full double-up as he had 4,050 total. Meanwhile, Yaroshevskyy was left with shrapnel.

Some Counts from the Gold Section

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Ari Engel called a raise to 125 and the big blind also came along to see a three-way flop of {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Spades}. The action checked to the initial raiser and he continued for 250, which Engel and the big blind called. The latter then shoved the {q-Spades} turn for 2,600 and both opponents including Engel folded.

Molly Anne Mossey from Team Verstandig opened to 125 and picked up two callers as well. The flop fell {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and the action checked to Michael Gallagher from one seat over and his bet of 500 did the trick to force folds.

Below are further assorted counts of the Gold section.

How's That for a Team?

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Andy Frankenberger
Andy Frankenberger

At the start of Level 1, Andy Frankenberger sat down at the same table as Team Hendrix and Team Linde, and soon announced his fellow teammates to everyone.

Phil Hellmuth, Brandon Cantu and Mike Matusow are the three other contenders on the all-star team and each will have to play at least the small and big blind once. So far, it is Frankenberger in action and he has slightly less than the starting stack available.

Team Chainsaw Gets First Blood

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Lena Evans
Lena Evans

Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler has handed a more-than-double-starting stack over to fellow teammate Lena Evans and reported about what happened early on.

Kessler flopped a gutshot with {Q-}{9-} on a {10-}{8-}{6-} board and check-called a bet by the younger brother of Thayer Rasmussen. On the {J-} turn, Kessler check-called another bet of 500, then check-shoved the {7-} river with the nut straight.

Rasmussen called with {K-}{9-} for the worse straight and became one of the first casualties of the day.

Steven van Zadelhoff Leads a Star-Studded Team Including a November Niner and Two Multiple Bracelet Winners

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Steven van Zadelhoff
Steven van Zadelhoff

The unmissable Dutchman Steve van Zadelhoff is playing on Table 70. Van Zadelhoff is captaining a strong group of four players who surely combine for one of the most accomplished teams in the room. Van Zadelhoff's buddies are last year's November Niner Kenny Hallaert, two-time bracelet winner Kristen Bicknell and three-time bracelet owner Benny Glaser.

However, the captain confirmed it will be he himself maneuvering their chip stack for the vast majority of today's play as van Zadelhoff's comrades are grinding in other events.

Hendrix and Pittman Score Pots

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Aaron Hendrix
Aaron Hendrix

Alyssa Pittman has started well to score some chips early on and add to the starting stack. Aaron Hendrix did so soon after for his team as well in a hand involving the two of them plus a third player.

On the flop of {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, Hendrix checked and so did Pittman. The button bet 300 and Hendrix was the only caller. Hendrix then check-called two further bets of 300 on both the {6-Diamonds} turn and the {8-Diamonds} river.

The button rolled over {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a full house, but Hendrix had that beat with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for the better full house.

Action Underway

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

There are more than 550 teams registered and the action got underway following a delay of more than 40 minutes. The entire Amazon Room is filled with poker players and a list of the first notables will be available soon.

All players on a team essentially have to play at least two hands until the end of the registration, the big blind and the small blind.
